Today Libertyville chiropractor Dr Steve Segal reveals his Thursday Tips.
How to help anyone with neck pain or muscle tension headaches.
Even though you may not be a chiropractor, today’s tips will help you change the world of any loved one or friend.
You have amazing power in your finger tips and hands.
Find someone, have them lie on their back, face up.
With your finger tips start in the back of their heads, follow the back of their head down towards the neck until you get to where the muscle of the neck and bone of your skull…meet.
Put about 5 pounds of pressure straight up towards the ceiling, into where the muscles of the head and neck meet.
Hold It, some will enjoy it if you gently lean back, thereby tractioning the region.
This spot works great for muscle tension headaches, neck pain, some even find relief from jaw pain.
Hold it for 1-3 minutes, rest your hands on the surface so they don’t fatigue.
The heel of your hand, by your pinky finger, work great when someone is on their stomach and you work the muscles like you are kneading dough on either of the spine.
On the thumb side, the “meaty” part of your thumb works the muscles well when people are face down and you work out the knots in the upper trapezius that are there from head forward posture, as in looking at you cell phone, computer.
Like anything else the more you practice the better you get at it.
